Mission and Vision of Phima Voyages

Mission and Vision of Phima Voyages

Who is Phima Voyages ?

Phima Voyages is a local travel agency, created in March 2015 by a French-German couple and specialising in responsible and rural travel to Northern Peru.

The north (less known than the south) offers an incredible biodiversity and exceptional archaeological treasures, whilst passing from the desert coast over the Andes to the Peruvian Amazonia.

Our Mission

Phima Voyages wants to create entrepreneurship and employment opportunities on a local level in order to improve the daily life in the local communities. This is possible through their active participation in tourism development of their region. In order to achieve this goal, Phima Voyages gives training in hospitality, restaurant or languages in order to prepare the inhabitants for the tourism arrivals.

By setting up workshops around traditional or agricultural activities with the communities, Phima Voyages proposes experiences and encounters to European and American travelers that are the base for a real exchange of culture and opinions.

Rural tourism can (and should) be a way to maintain culture and traditions in the communities (such as weaving, ceramic, music and dances) and also create employment opportunities for the youth in the mountains.

Welcoming travelers, sharing a meal and showing their way of life is a great opportunity for both, the traveler and the inhabitant.

By using a homestay, participating in activities, the traveler pays a fair price to the local and makes a difference in his daily life.

We don’t believe that tourism should be the main source of income for the local communities, but a good complement that will help them to improve their living conditions, and at the same time maintain their traditions.

Our Vision

Currently we operate in northern Peru since March 2015, working with small hotels, on-site drivers and Peruvian guides.

It is our vision is to increase the number of travelers to northern Peru, while developing trips to nearby countries like Ecuador and Colombia with the same philosophy and in close collaboration with local agencies.

How will we develop trips to other countries ?

We would like to apply the same philosophy in a new partner country as we currently do in Peru. For that, the choice of a representative agency within the partner country is essential for us.

In order to start selling the partner country, we need first to prepare “classic” circuits (which may already include small family hotels, sites off-the-beaten-path, but must absolutely contain the flagship sites of the country that a visitor who comes for the first time wants to see).

While promoting these tours, we will start working simultaneously on rural circuits with experiences in the communities and homestays.
